Daniel Lubin seeks to communicate music that questions expectations. Born in Israel to a musical immigrant family, Daniel was exposed from a young age to a vibrant spectrum of musical influences. This exposure sparked his curiosity for the intrinsic potential of musical material to break free from its contextual constraints; His work is driven by a desire to articulate those inherent qualities of musical material, and to assert its unique identity in the concert hall.
Daniel values collaboration and the physicality of performance as central to his creative practice. He considers conducting an inseparable extension of his artistry, and a direct avenue for exploring questions of structure, context, and expression. In summer 2024, he was a conducting fellow at the Mostly Modern Festival, working with the institute’s orchestra and chamber ensembles on 20th century repertoire and premiering participant composer new works.
Daniel is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied under the guidance of John Corigliano.
